Irish music festival Oxegen have today released the new iphone application for the festival which commences on the 9th of July.

The app has a few key benefits;

Augmented Reality:
Find your way around the festival venue by holding up the i phone and looking through the camera viewfinder.

The screen will show you all the points of interest – bars, food, water stations, etc. It is also possible to tag particular points by GPS, like your tent or a particular stage.

The augmented reality feature is also fully integrated with Facebook – tapping on a friend’s name reveals their current status and location.

Line-Up and Interactive Planner
Create your own personal line-up schedule with our interactive planner. You can choose the bands you most want to check out and get reminders for any artist you have selected.

News
Stay up to date with the latest up-to-the-minute news & alerts on what’s happening on-site. Also features a twitter feed of all the artists playing the Festival and all OXEGEN Tweets.

Maps
View the site through Google Maps – find where the nearest toilet, bar, food and water station is or locate your GPS marked personal belongings. Let your phone guide you to your tent at the end of the night! Or view an illustrated site-map to find your way around.

Definitely an application that would create some value for those willing to spend a few euro on it!!

There are more and more ads cropping up that have real messages that don’t sell brands or products but sell us on a real sentiment; something that’s important to us.

Here’s two examples for your viewing pleasure.

The BBC promo vignettes have a great reputation – the Winter Olympics promo noted in a previous post below was a jaw dropper and we loved it, so the World Cup 2010 was always going to have to be a real doozy to out do it – and in our opinion; it’s not all that good.

BMW, on one hand,  has always used entertaining, enthralling and sterling images to promote their brand and product; giving that prestigious personality the brand exudes.

This ad for their brand is no different;

Honda have done something similar with “Impossible Dream”

On the other hand, Nissan have really has to make an effort, promote their cars a little harder than before, instead of the auto jargon we are used to, they show another side to their brand, and it really works. They don’t advertise their brand like the bigger manufacturers, but their newest product, like the Qashqai

This particular advert is a part of the ‘lets colour project’ and amidst the economic recession and continuous doom and gloom; Dulux show us a bright side. Really bright, over 120 colours!!

Award winning director Adam Berg  shot this lovely ad over four weeks in Brazil, France, London and India. Every location is real and they remain transformed thanks to the Dulux product range.

The people in the film are not actors, they are local people who rolled up their sleeves to transform their community with colour.

In a time when all the hard work in an ad can be computer generated, this shows bravery in displaying real authenticity.

Really love it.

There is something really creative about this element of brand representation.
